Meet Our Riders of the Month: Jordi & MJ (Special Edition)

Meet Our Riders of the Month: Jordi & MJ (Special Edition)

Originally from Barcelona and now based in New York, this dynamic duo shares a deep love for the open road and a passion for riding that spans over 25 years. From weekend rides through the Smoky Mountains to planning a cross-country adventure across the U.S., Jordi and MJ are living proof that riding is even better when shared with family. They share lots of interesting content on Instagram and YouTube.

We had the pleasure of catching up with them to hear more about their story, riding lifestyle, and why they swear by Beyond Riders gear. Here’s what they had to say:

1. What kind of electric or other vehicles do you ride?
MJ rides a 2023 Harley Davidson Road King Special, while Jordi rides a 2023 Harley Davidson Street Glide ST.

2. How did you get into riding?
We both started riding 25 years ago in Barcelona, where scooters are a common means of commuting. After getting married, we bought a scooter to get around the city, and soon after added a Yamaha 250cc for longer weekend rides. That’s when “Pandora’s box” opened—and we never looked back.

3. What’s it like riding with your spouse? How do you keep everyone safe?
Riding with your spouse is the best feeling. We each have our own bikes, which gives us both independence and a shared experience. It makes planning routes, pit stops, and lodging so much easier. It’s the best of both worlds—solo riding and togetherness. Safety is always a top priority.

4. Have you had any close calls while riding?
Yes—MJ had a scary incident years ago in Barcelona. She was stopped at a red light when a driver behind assumed she was accelerating and rear-ended her. Thankfully, she was on a heavy bike (a Suzuki Bandit 650cc) and was wearing full gear, which made a big difference. This experience didn’t change our approach to safety because we’ve always believed in dressing for the slide, not the ride.

5. What riding plans do you have for this year?
2025 is going to be amazing. We’re planning a 4–6 week cross-country ride this summer. Back in 2020, we rode across the U.S. but missed Washington and Oregon due to COVID. This year, we’re completing the journey—riding from New York to those two states and back, stopping at favorite spots and landmarks, including Sturgis and much of the PCH1.

6. What gear do you rely on for protection?
We live by ATGATT: All The Gear, All The Time. Coming from Europe, where helmets are mandatory, we consider gloves, boots, and protective jackets essential. We never ride in sneakers or flip-flops. Even in summer, we prioritize safety over comfort.

7. Are you part of a local riding community?
Yes! When we bought our first Harley in 2016, we joined the NYC HOG Chapter and have been active members since. While we love solo weekend trips, being part of a larger group now and then—riding with 20 bikes in formation—is a powerful experience.

8. What advice would you give to new riders?
Ride at your own pace—both in speed and in how often you go out. Don’t push beyond your comfort zone, and don’t pressure others if they’re not feeling up to a ride. Comfort and enthusiasm make for the best experiences. Respect everyone’s energy and preferences.

9. What are your favorite areas for riding?
We love isolated, mountainous areas with twisty roads. Since we’re based in Manhattan, Pennsylvania and Upstate New York are perfect for weekend trips. For longer weekends, we consider Canada or the Smoky Mountains.

10. Favorite day of the week to ride?
Any day is a good day to ride! But realistically, we love leaving town on Friday evening and returning Sunday—perfect for weekend getaways.

11. How did you discover Beyond Riders?
We came across Beyond Riders on Instagram back in spring 2022. After engaging with a post, the team reached out via DM. Given our experience with gear reviews, it was a great fit. We were immediately impressed by the quality, design, and service.

12. What do you love most about Beyond Riders gear?
It was love at first sight. We still wear leather jackets for cold or high-speed rides, but Beyond Riders gear is our go-to otherwise. MJ especially appreciates the flattering female cuts and variety beyond the usual pink. Cargo pants and aggressive styling are a big plus.

13. Any products you'd love to see from Beyond Riders in the future?
Yes—leather jackets! You’re already doing an amazing job with other gear, so we’d love to see high-quality, modern leather options. Gloves would also be great. And please consider expanding into rain gear—it’s hard to find good rain pants or boot covers. Keep doing what you’re doing. Everyone we’ve referred to BR has become a happy customer!

Thanks, Jordi & MJ, for sharing your story! Ride safe and keep chasing the next adventure.
