What started as a practical solution for commuting has transformed into a full-on family lifestyle for this Southern California crew. Trading in four wheels for electric unicycles, this adventurous dad, his wife, and their two young kids now explore trails, neighborhoods, and even church routes on personal electric vehicles (PEVs)—all while staying safe, stylish, and connected. They share lots of interesting content on Instagram and YouTube.
In this exclusive interview, we dive into how their journey began, the gear they trust most (spoiler: it's Beyond Riders), and what it really looks like to ride as a family. From weekend rides to close calls and confidence-boosting tips, they share it all.
What kind of electric and other vehicles do you and your family ride?
I ride an InMotion V13 for its speed and off-road capability—great for both trails and extended commutes. My wife prefers the InMotion V9 for its lightweight, slender design and smooth suspension, which is perfect for urban rides. Our kids, ages 6 and 3, ride the Begode Mten4 and MtenMini, which are scaled down for their size but still pack performance. We also have a couple of InMotion E20s we use to teach beginners. And of course, the push-powered UniRider—we use it instead of a stroller!
How did you and your family get into riding in the first place?
Three years ago, I sold my car since I work remotely and needed a way to get around locally. I bought my first EUC, the S18, and even did UberEats deliveries on it to save up and buy a unicycle for my daughter. I attached a bike trailer to tow my then one-year-old on fun bike trails. My wife started filming us for social media—but eventually learned to ride just to keep up. Now it’s our family hobby.
What’s it like riding with your wife and kids? How do you make sure everyone stays safe?
Riding together is pure joy—cruising, laughing, exploring as a family. But safety is always first: all gear, all the time. We set ground rules like staying in sight, keeping kids under 15 mph, and avoiding traffic-heavy roads. We also practice key skills like stopping and even controlled crashing at home before hitting real trails.

Have you ever had any close calls or incidents while riding?
Definitely. I’ve had a few tumbles on tough trails, but Beyond Riders’ padded gear kept me from anything worse than bruises. My wife had a fall a few months ago while riding without hip pads and bruised her hip. That moment changed everything—she immediately asked me to order Beyond Riders pants with Level 2 padding. She used to think hip pads were bulky and unflattering, but now she wears Beyond Riders gear confidently because it’s sleek and protective.
What riding trends do you anticipate in the next year or so?
EUC riding is exploding, especially with UL-certified models becoming more available and affordable. There’s a huge rise in group rides and EUC events on Instagram and YouTube, along with more focus on proper safety gear as speeds increase. I expect PEVs (personal electric vehicles) to grow as a viable green transport option—offering families cheaper, safer city commuting.
How are you and your family protecting yourselves when riding? What gear do you swear by?
Safety is non-negotiable. We say: “more gear = less fear.” We want to enjoy this beautiful sport for years—injury free. We trust Beyond Riders gear with Level 2 impact protection. It saves us time when gearing up and looks great, too. Lightweight, breathable, stylish—it checks all the boxes. We also wear full-face helmets and wrist guards for full coverage.

Are you part of a local riding community?
Yes! I ride with the Southern CA EUC and San Diego EUC crews. We organize group rides via Telegram. It’s a super welcoming community. If you're into EUCs too, I’d love to connect! We even host an annual EUC tour through OC, LA, and SD counties, with over 100 riders joining for day and night rides throughout the week.
What would you tell a new rider who wants to ride with their family?
Start slow, and prioritize safety—especially for the kids. Begin in empty lots or flat open areas, and keep speeds low until everyone’s confident. Patience and proper gear are the keys to making family riding both safe and fun.
What’s your preferred area for riding and why? Any favorite family rides?
We love paved bike trails surrounded by bushes—no cars, just nature and peace. Parks with wide sidewalks are also ideal, and the kids love stopping at jungle gyms along the way. It’s about the journey and the little adventures.
What’s your favorite day of the week for riding with your family?
Saturday is Daddy’s day to ride with the kids! Sundays I get to enjoy a slightly faster solo ride on my EUC while commuting to church. But my favorite moments are when my wife joins us—it turns the whole ride into something special.
How did you first hear about Beyond Riders, and what made you decide to try our gear?
I discovered Beyond Riders on Instagram—EUC riders were loving your reflective padded jackets. They looked way better than the bulky hardshell gear I had. I was impressed by the built-in Kevlar, Level 2 inserts, and the rider-friendly designs. It’s gear I can wear to the office or a family gathering without drawing attention.
What do you like most about our products?
My favorite unexpected perk? TIME. It’s so much quicker to gear up now. I also love the extra pockets—especially on the cargo pants, which I use for carrying recording gear. The whole family appreciates the style and color variety—it lets us express ourselves while staying safe.
What products or features would you love to see next?
We’d love to see youth-specific padded clothing with fun designs—something that gets kids excited about safety. We’re thrilled about the new vibrant color options, but unfortunately, our little ones are still too small for the XXS size. Family-friendly gear is a huge opportunity.
