He Refused to Die: Kaden Fannin’s Story
One crash. One decision. One reason he’s still here.
Some stories aren’t just about riding. They’re about what happens when everything goes wrong.
Kaden Fannin didn’t grow up loving motorcycles. In fact, he hated them. But after losing his brother, something changed. Riding became a way to understand him - to feel what he felt.

What started as curiosity turned into something deeper. Long rides, no destinations, just the road and someone he calls his brother beside him.
“It feels like it’s just us against everything else… in a good way.”
But one ride changed everything. And the reason he’s still here today comes down to a decision he almost didn’t make.
Interview with Kaden
Q: What inspired you to start riding motorcycles?
Kaden: Well, my brother - not gonna lie to you - I always hated motorcycles when I was little. Then he died, and I had to see what he felt, and I am glad I did.
Q: Describe your perfect ride - where do you go, who do you ride with, and how does it feel?
Kaden: Well, I ride with a guy I call my brother even though he isn’t, he’s always been there. I don’t even pick a destination. Me and him just get on the bikes, and we may go straight for 3 hours and not even know where we are, so lost we have to get our phones and use GPS just to figure it out. And how it feels, hell, I couldn’t even describe that. It feels like it’s just us against everything else, in a good way though, if that makes sense. Just me and my brother in our own little bubble, going to see whatever we want and do whatever. And the conversations we have along the way are just great, you never know what you’ll come across to talk about.
Q: What’s your go-to Beyond Riders gear and why?
Kaden: Honestly, I love that purple flannel I got from y’all, it matches my Triumph America well.
Q: How has protective gear changed the way you ride?
Kaden: It hasn’t, it’s just always good to have something on. Even a little protection can change everything in a crash. I learned that firsthand, rib through the right lung, spine turned into dust from T4-T7, artery in my neck was nicked, and I had 3 hematomas in my stomach and pieces ripped out of me from barbed wire.
Q: Most memorable ride moment?
Well, unexpected, me and my buddy were riding back from Texas to Oklahoma. I had a shop check my bike and everything seemed fine. Not even 15 minutes into the ride, something failed, and I lost control...
Q: Do you customize your gear or bike to match your style?
Kaden: A little bit, but not really. I mainly just have that one matching piece, the purple flannel from y’all.
Q: What advice would you give to a new rider choosing their first protective gear?
Kaden: Don’t be buying that cheap stuff. Spend some money on it, because that might be what saves your life, I know it did for me.
Q: What does being part of the Beyond Riders community mean to you?
Kaden: It lets me maybe put a little piece of myself out there, and that means a lot. Just for someone to say "damn, this dude existed at one point" would be amazing. And for people to see my story and not mess up like I did, that means damn near everything. Thank y’all for taking the time to read this, it means a lot.
Thank you, Kaden, for sharing your story.
