We're excited to introduce our Rider of the Month, Ben!

Based in Boston, MA, Ben is known online as Bikes Beards and Brews, where he shares his adventures on YouTube and Instagram. With nearly 20 years of riding experience, you’ll find him tackling 1,000-mile days, embarking on spontaneous road trips, and hunting down the best breweries—all in pursuit of the next great adventure.

We had the chance to chat with Ben about his journey, riding habits, and gear preferences. Here’s what he had to say:

What motorcycles are you riding?

I ride a 2018 Road Glide Special.

How did you get into riding in the first place?

When I was about 12, a family friend—who was like an older brother to me—showed up at my house on a 1990 Harley Sportster. He threw me on the back and took me to Laconia Bike Week. I had no idea he rode, and I had never even heard of Laconia Bike Week before. But after that day, I was hooked.

What motorcycle trends do you anticipate in the next year or so?

I see Honda introducing solid-state batteries in Goldwings sooner rather than later.

How are you protecting yourself when riding?

I always ride with a full-face helmet, gloves, a riding vest, and one of my Beyond Riders flannels, shirts, or hoodies.

Are you part of a local rider community?

I’m not exclusive to any group, but I’m always down for a ride with anyone who’s ready to go.

What would you tell a new rider ahead of their first ride?

Take the MSF course, keep your head on a swivel, and never show off. Showing off leads to crashes and hospital visits. The people you were trying to impress won’t be the ones paying your medical bills.

What's your preferred area for riding and why?

Anywhere with long sweeping turns, great views, and no stop signs, red lights, or traffic.

What's your favorite day of the week for riding?

Any day I’m on my bike.

How did you first hear about Beyond Riders?

I saw fellow riders using their gear and singing its praises, so I had to check it out for myself.

What do you like most about our products?

They’re designed with riders in mind. The fit is great without needing odd sizes, and the durability and dependability are top-notch.

What products or features would you like us to offer next?

I’d love to see a SWAT-style vest in a textile build—something that would allow me to go exclusively with Beyond Riders for all my gear.
